Workshop: Painting Custom Shoes- Canvas

 Sign up to learn how to create lasting artwork on your shoes! In this workshop you will learn how to properly apply paint to canvas sneakers- bring your own pair to customize as we discuss materials and technique. Some good options are Converse, Vans, or comparable inexpensive brands (Primark & H&M are great places to look- anything mostly canvas with room to paint is fine!). Paint and brushes will be provided for use during the class. Participants will also hear a brief overview of the materials needed to customize leather surfaces, should they want to try painting leather sections of sneakers or boots in the future.

What you will need:

-one pair of canvas shoes (preferably white or a light color)

-gloves are optional

About the Teacher:

Kelly Schultz is a visual artist based in Philadelphia, PA. She received her BFA from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts, with a focus in painting/drawing and a minor in art history. Her custom shoes feature bold colors and patterns, often asymmetrical, and she specializes in painting cowboy boots.
