Mary Fran (MF) Cardamone is a painter and printmaker based in Philadelphia. Born in Mount Airy, she went on to study at Rosemont College in Liberal Arts from 1977 to 1979 before leaving to Cardamone Designs, a clothing designs company focusing on limited runs. She later went back to school in 2002 at the Barnes Foundation Arboretum School forHorticulture and began painting again.
Cardamone's recent works reflects the stylings of 18th and 19th century botanical illustrations (looping back to her love of Horticulture), fusing it with imaginative collage work that gives these images of herbs and plants new, modern life. She also finds influence in medieval and Chinese folklore, allowing her to meld the old with the new into a fresh, larger story.
